Groups & Classes

Throughout the year, we offer various group classes and activities as follows:

MS can be a very isolating condition so it’s important to offer people a place to socialise. Chatterbox is a regular, informal group run by centre members, for centre members.  Most of our members come to the centre initially to seek treatments that will help them to manage their symptoms.  However, one of the most loved things about the centre is that many people who come here form close, enduring friendships with like-minded people.
Chatterbox is a way for all members to get to know each other, have a chat and a cup of tea or coffee (and often a cake or biscuit!) and just be part of a friendly, supportive group.
Chatterbox takes place around every 4-6 weeks – you can find out the date for the next get together from Reception.

Evening Social Group
We realise that our daytime opening hours mean that a large number of people with MS are unable to receive the treatments and therapies on offer.  They also miss out on the close relationships and support that can be found at the centre.  Therefore, in early 2016 we started this a new group for people who are unable to get to the centre during the day due to work or other commitments.
The purpose of the group is to give people a chance to socialise but, in future, we plan to ask guest speakers and facilitators to attend.  These will largely be based on what members of the group feel they need – whether it be advice on obtaining or remaining in work following a diagnosis of MS, information about appropriate clubs, sports and activities in the local area, or just support for people living with MS whilst balancing work, family and day-to-day life.
The group will generally take place once a month on a Wednesday evening. Ask at Reception for the date of the next get together.

Carers Support Group
In partnership with the Bristol Carer’s Support Centre, we have a peer support group every third Tuesday of the month that runs 10.30am – 12.00pm.
This is for anyone who cares for or supports (in any way) a person with a neurological condition.  This group is relaxed, a chance to meet other people, share information, and will be provided with specialised support and guidance on a range of topics.  It may also involve guest speakers or group activities.

Group classes
We always welcome suggestions from members and practitioners about what kind of classes they think could work at the centre.  We have previously offered courses in Yoga, Boccia and Reiki and are always interested to hear about other potential activities.
If you have a suggestion for a class or activity, please send us an email and we will be happy to consider it. Email us at info@mstherapybristol.org.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you are a practitioner and would like to run a class or group at the centre, please contact us on the above email address, including details of what you offer, how you feel it can help people with MS and other neurological conditions, how you will adapt the class (if necessary) for people with restricted mobility and your qualifications (if applicable).
All suggestions will be considered in line with our centre vision and values.
